DECADIA SHORT FORM INFO

Character Name: Cipher Nine
Character Alias: Aden Nahain

Gender: Gender Apathetic
Health/Physical Info:
Nine has brain damage as a result of being brainwashed twice. It is something he can manage through mental exercises and medication, though he does still suffer from debilitating headaches due to it and sometimes even medicine to counteract the pain it isn't enough. The only way to notice when he has one of his episodes though is if one is very good at tracking his moods. He gets somewhat less patient and more vicious the more pain he's in. He won't usually mention that he is in pain or ask for help.

His brain damage has also resulted in him becoming overwhelmed by both too much visual and too much auditory input, making busy environments harder for him to handle which he also compensates for by getting snide if he's not playing a specific role or focused by some other purpose.

He has an addiction to painkillers due to how he handles his chronic pain.

He is gender apathetic and leans femme for his usual visual presentation so he does use hormones to keep his appearance more feminine than masculine. He also has augmented his teeth so his canines are longer and sharper than they should be for someone of his species.

Personality:
On the Job—
To his superiors, Nine typically comes across as intelligent, cold, & calculating. Though he never quite passes into being polite considering his pride tends to get in the way of pleasantry, he is nonetheless professional and attentive— even though he will turn around and use anything he learns to be snide. He is ambitious as well and interested in gaining power and authority. Joining hands with the Sith Lord Jadus pushed any notion of being obedient to the background so while Nine does his job and does it well, no superior other than Jadus himself receives reverence from him.

To his peers, he's detached and polite assuming they are polite to him too— keeping them at a distance but collecting information on their personalities in case he needs it. He is loyal enough that if his peers need him to, he will step in to shield them from a superior's ire by borrowing authority from Jadus.

To his targets, Nine is who he needs to be. His personality adapts depending on situation and he's more of a chameleon who can fit in with and get along with anyone. This tends to be his default and he tends to prefer seeming either charming to get along with someone or juvenile to be underestimated. Charming is usually his favorite since it's more versatile. He also enjoys seduction in general since intimacy makes it easier for people to form some sort of attachment to him and he likes using attachments to his advantage.

Off the Job—
More aloof and standoffish to strangers. Often snarky and a bit "bratty" and has a crass way of speaking. He still comes off as intelligent and observant, but might also come off as younger than he is.

He is significantly friendlier and more affectionate with friends and has a deep loyalty toward those who manage to get past his defenses. He never quite manages a genuine nice, but he's more willing to soothe if he ends up hurting someone. Has a weakness for people who are very good because he recognizes that he is a very selfish person so there is some amount of admiration for those who manage to go through life without getting bitter.

This part of him is also fond of seduction like his work persona since him being selfish and wanting an advantage over others is always true— he likes knowing he has some way of controlling others and he sees playfulness and seduction to be a shortcut to that.

In short—
Nine the Professional: Cold and calculating. Prideful and ambitious. Chameleon who can fit in with anyone. Tends to be an almost entirely different person to different people and reads people's emotional responses to adjust his attitude and emotions to what they need him to be. Likes gathering affection from others to use for his own purposes later.

Nine the Person: Aloof. Sarcastic and kind of juvenile. Still more affectionate in a genuine way and will soothe if he unintentionally hurts someone. Lower energy than his work persona. Has a weakness for people with goodness in them since he is aware that he himself is made of pride and self-preservation.

Powers:
  • Intelligence Training
Nine is trained as an agent of the Sith Empire. He's well-versed in combat— melee and ranged, armed and unarmed— a master of poisons that he can both create and knows how to effectively use, and familiar enough with anatomy of many different species to know where it hurts to be hit. His training makes him a rather deadly opponent, while his short and feminine frame makes for a perfect appearance with which to fool opponents. His training also makes it easier for him to get a read on his surroundings quickly, and his reaction speed tends to be rather impressive. Additionally, he also has medical training— enough to patch up small to moderate injuries.

  • Enhanced strength
As a Chiss, Nine biologically has a higher base strength than a regular human would. This ties into his training as an agent as well, making him a combatant with surprising strength compared to his appearance. He is not so strong that he can easily fling larger targets with ease, but those who approach him like if he's a standard human often find themselves getting a rather nasty surprise.

  • Enhanced senses
Sight and hearing, in particular— also a biological advantage. His sight goes slightly into the infrared range and he is more sensitive to noise than a baseline human.

  • Mind reading/mind control resistance
Getting a read on Nine's mind is damn near impossible, as he keeps thoughts and emotions very guarded and is skilled at keeping just about anyone out of his mind. Trying to get a read on him is like trying to get a read on a block of ice— a trait shared by all Chiss. Controlling his mind through suggestion or even brainwashing is not possible as he reprogrammed his own mind to always allow him to be free.

  • Intelligence
While not a genius by any means, Nine is more intelligent than your average person. With his intelligence also comes complicated hobbies such as a proficiency in programming, hacking, building droids, repairing broken tech from computers to shuttles and the like, and a knowledge of how to craft his own weapons, along with the previously mentioned ability to create and use various kinds of poisons, as well as drugs, assuming he has the necessary ingredients and tools to do so.

  • Technological Enhancements
Nine has an implant along his spine that blocks any signs of life when active. It also comes with a droid disguise capable of fooling cameras and sensors. When the implant is active he can pass perfectly as a machine.

    Pre-Class Story History:
Born in the Chiss Ascendancy on the resort world Copero, Naiha'de'nzynne (or "Aden")'s early life was relatively peaceful. Though his parents were often busy, Nine had six older sisters for company and so he was rarely lonely in their house near one of Copero's shipyards. His sisters were the ones doing most of the raising— a fact that Nine often resented as a child who wanted his parents— but that he grew to appreciate as he got older. His sisters are the ones who taught Nine how to cook, clean, and mend clothing— habits that Nine has brought with him into adulthood and made a hobby out of.

Though he came from humble beginnings Nine began excelling early on, hitting many milestones earlier than most. Though he still found plenty of opportunities to fit mischief into his schedule, most of his time began going to his education and combat training, while most of his childishness had to be left behind much too soon. Always energetic and upbeat, the young Chiss happily ran rings around fellow trainees and instructors alike and though he had a competitive and confident attitude with his peers it was far too good-natured to be called arrogance.

Leaving Copero and his family in his early teens, Nine was shipped off to the capital world Csilla, and after only a few years there became a member of the Ascendancy's secret police which was where he received his new assignment— to serve the Ascendancy outside its borders by serving their ally, the Sith Empire. Wishing to be of use to his people, Nine saw no reason to refuse and so was sent off to the Empire to become an agent of Imperial Intelligence. There he very quickly learned that humans didn't see his youthful mischief and competitive attitude in the same light as his fellow Chiss. Through several incidents early on in his Imperial training— one of which left him with scarring on his face— the optimistic idealist wishing to serve was instead replaced by a cynic with his guard up. His Chiss name was also abandoned around this time in favor of one humans could more easily pronounce. Naiha'de'nzynne became Aden Nahain, which was again later mostly abandoned for his designation "Cipher Nine"— though he continues to use Aden as his civilian identity, he does not internally identify as anything other than Nine.

Though Nine's ultimate loyalty is still to the Ascendancy, his experiences in the Empire has made him more of a selfish creature and so when Darth Jadus promised him respect, power, and authority, Nine accepted his offer. Though he currently is not inclined toward either excessive cruelty nor excessive violence thanks to the positive influences of a few individuals he calls friends, he nonetheless flaunts his authority where he can and serves himself, the Ascendancy, and Lord Jadus— not always necessarily in that order.
